The Take It Down Act
A Federal Solution to Revenge Porn, Sextortion, and Deepfakes
The Take It Down Act makes publishing nonconsensual intimate imagery (NCII) a federal crime and requires tech companies to remove such content within 48 hours. While it strengthens protections against revenge porn and deepfakes, critics worry it could lead to censorship of consensual content. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) provides tools for individuals, especially minors, to protect their intimate content using digital fingerprints.
